One in every 59 people have autism and 25% live with parents that are over the age of 60 years old causing extreme family burden. There are only a few independent housing options for neurodiverse adults and they have limited care and services.
Residents benefit the most when their families are supportive and involved in the individualized program created for their son or daughter. We strive to work as a team with each resident, their family and our staff, by creating person-centered, effective
support. Our staff includes highly skilled professionals who provide responsive and effective support
services to our very special population.

Shine Residences is developing a new class of multi-family housing that offers an independent yet supportive living environment for neurodiverse adults. These communities will allow these adults to shine through educational, social and workplace support; while reducing the economic and time burdens being disproportionately placed on their families. We are able to provide the residents a safe and central location where they will have access to education, jobs and extracurricular activities. Shine is able to offer care and monitoring for the residents with expert qualified counselors in a warm, fun and loving environment.
Shine believes adults with special needs can and should be
productive, contributing members of their community. Our supported living environment provides every opportunity for life long learning and achieving personal potential. We offer services to enhance the overall independence of residents while maintaining the structure necessary to promote safety, health and well-being.

Neurodiverse people often have sensory issues, typically involving over- or under-sensitivity to sounds, lights, touch, tastes, smells, pain and other stimuli. Many neurodiverse display a lack of social cues and suffer from interaction anxiety.Shine is accepting individuals who are driven to live fulfilled lives but require guidance, structure, and support to reach their full potential. Our community members must be able to work or volunteer at their independent levels (with supervision if needed) and can both contribute and follow the community guidelines and expectations of self care, positive behavior, and mutual respect.
